2gether support Heart of Gloucestershire Awards 2011
Supporting the Community Project Award for a second year, Gavin Davies, Assistant Director of Communications said: “We are delighted to be part of the awards and to again support the Community Project Award.”
“There are so many great examples of inspirational projects that are making life better for people across Gloucestershire, like last year’s winner, Chris Evans, of the Butterfly Garden Project.”
“His skills, enthusiasm and dedication have successfully engaged volunteers and created a therapeutic environment where people enjoy meeting up with friends and have the opportunity to learn new skills to perhaps change their life completely.”
The Heart of Gloucestershire Awards honours individuals who make a real difference to people’s lives and deserve recognition. They celebrate the unsung heroes of the county.
Chris Evans, of the Butterfly Garden, deservedly won last year’s Community Project Award said: “The award provided a springboard for the raising of public awareness in a very big way,”
“From total anonymity we found ourselves being a recognised organisation with people coming to us to volunteer their time or helping out in other ways by donating gifts or money.”
The Butterfly Garden is based at Dundry Garden Centre and help people with any kind of disability enjoy activities ranging from gardening and woodwork to music.
The project had run under the radar until this time last year when Chris was nominated for the Community Project Award.
