Cantilupe Ward Re-opened
Cantilupe Ward at the Stonebow Unit was officially re-opened on Thursday 17 May by Baroness Fritchie, DBE, Chair of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust.
Working in partnership with NHS Herefordshire, £380,000 has been invested in the refurbishment of the Stonebow Unit which are designed to increase the privacy, dignity and safety of our patients and provide single sex accommodation.
As a result, patients now have have more accessible bathrooms and side rooms have full en-suite facilities.
Improvements have also been made to the layout of the ward, giving patients more living space. The Ward also now has new flooring and has been completly redecored to provide a light and modern environment.
Baroness Fritchie said "I would like to recognise the work contributed by the many patients, carers and staff at the earliest stages of this refurbishment where they put forward their ideas and suggestions which contributed to the final design.
“I would also like to thank patients, their relatives and friends for their tolerance, cooperation and patience whilst the works were being carried out. I would especially like to pay tribute to our staff who have worked hard to ensure that, despite the disruption, our patients have received a consistent service."
A tea party was held to celebrate the re-opening of the ward, with cakes and tea dance music enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
The refurbishment projects are part of a wider programme of improvement to mental health services for our patients in Herefordshire.
