The Role of the Foundation Trust Governor
Members can stand and vote in elections to the Trust’s Council of Governors.
The Council of Governors includes public, staff, Primary Care Trust, Local Authority and Gloucestershire Learning Disability Partnership Board representatives. The duties and powers of the Council of Governors will be to:
- Develop and approve a membership involvement strategy
- Appoint or remove the chairman and the other non-executive directors
- Decide the remuneration (pay) and allowances of the non-executive directors
- Appoint or remove the Trust’s auditors
- Be presented with the annual accounts, auditor’s report and the annual report.
- The Council of Governors will approve new chief executive appointments.
- It will give its views on the Trust’s annual plan.
- Governors will act as channels of communication between the Trust and local community groups and organisations and encourage increased participation and involvement. Governors may also take on other responsibilities at the request of the Board of Directors
A programme of consultation between the membership and Governors will be supported so members’ views can be made known.
