Primary Mental Health Development Service
The Primary Mental Health Development Service aims to improve access to psychological therapies and mental health in primary care (PC).
This is achieved by increasing the competence and confidence of staff to work effectively with individuals experiencing mental health problems, and by improving access to effective mental health care across the steps of the Stepped Care Model (SCM).
The service will develop and support new ways of working and service delivery within both Primary Health Care Teams (PHCT’s) and the Primary Care Assessment and Treatment service (PCAT). Facilitating partnership working and building sustainable relationships across the community and the primary/secondary care interface is essential and will support the implementation of mental health strategies.
