Substance Misuse - useful contacts

The following organisations can all offer advice on specific areas of substance misuse: 

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

ADFAMs mission is to improve the quality of life for families affected by drug and alcohol use. 

DrugScope is the national membership organisation for the drug sector and the UK's leading independent centre of expertise on drugs and drug use.

Ring FRANK anytime and speak to a friendly adviser who's professionally trained to give you straight up, unbiased information about drugs.

The Home Office is working hard to deal with the serious problems caused by illegal drug use. It is also the government department responsible for alcohol policy and licensing.

Independence Trust is a Gloucestershire Charity. They support individuals, families, and communities with concerns about mental health, alcohol or drugs. They help people to build self esteem and confidence, so that they can take more control of their lives, become more independent and realise their potential.

Inishfree is a Supported Housing Programme providing safe accommodation, training and support for people recovering from alcohol and drug addiction.

NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. They are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean.

The National Treatment Agencies purpose is to get drug users into treatment, help them recover from dependency, and reintegrate them back into society.

The Nelson Trust is one of the longest established drug and alcohol abstinence-based treatment providers in the UK.

The Alliance is a user led organisation which provides advocacy, training and helpline services to those currently in drug or alcohol treatment, those who have accessed treatment in the past and those who may access treatment in the future.

The GYPSMS works throughout Gloucestershire offering a free specialist service for children and young people (under 18 years of age unless in exceptional circumstances) with significant drug and/or alcohol misuse.
