What are sleep issues?

Sleep issues can be caused by a wide range of factors such as stress and anxiety, physical health conditions or certain medications.

Prolonged sleep problems are called insomnia and if these issues are affecting your daily life, you should seek help.

Treatment options

How we may help, and some of the treatments on offer.

Treatment for sleep issues or insomnia will include looking at whether there are any underlying issues and looking to treat these first.

If there are no underlying issues, insomnia can often be improved with some changes to bedtime habits and routines. Cognitive behaviour therapies or a short course of sleeping tablets can also help.

Find out more about treatment options for sleep issues on the NHS Choices website.
